System Requirements

NeoDCP Player comes with a software-based JPEG 2000 decoder. Provided that proper hardware is available, the decoder is capable of processing 2K DCPs with 24 or 48 fps in real-time. This is sufficient for smooth real-time playback of regular and stereoscopic DCPs with a 2K resolution. NeoDCP Player even allows to open and play 4K DCPs with 24 fps in full resolution.

In order to guarantee real-time playback with at least 48 fps, which is required for stereoscopic 2K DCPs, the software-based decoder needs to be backed up by a fast multi-core CPU, e.g. a quad-core with at least 3.5 GHz. For 24 fps DCPs, the demands are slightly lower. It is recommended to download the demo version in order to find out how your system performs. Additionally, the scalability of JPEG2000-encoded images can be exploited to watch a 1K or 0.5K resolution preview in real-time on systems that don’t have a sufficiently powerful CPU. Optionally you can choose to upscale the lower resolution preview to full-screen, without negatively impacting the rendering frame rate.

Recommended System Configuration:

  • 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 11
  • or Apple Mac computer with Intel CPU, Boot Camp and native Windows OS installed
  •  CPU Intel i7 or i9 or Xeon of the latest generation, the faster – the better (crucial for 4K Playback)
  • 16 or more gigabytes (GB) of system memory
  • DirectX 9/10/11-class graphics card with a GPU that supports Pixel Shader 3.0
  • Multi-monitor configuration with full HDCP or DPCP support
  • Dual hard drive or SSD configuration, first drive for the operating system, second high-performance and high quality drive for storing DCPs
  • Audio output capability of 7+1 channels

  • Installed DirectX version 9.0c
  • AMD/ATI Radeon/FirePro or Intel HD Graphics 3000/4000 for 30-bit deep color output
  • AMD/ATI Radeon/FirePro or nVidia GeForce/Quadro for stereoscopic (3D) output 1
  • Audio output capability
